Since 1900 the science and Art of Orthodontics has been a special area of dentistry requiring at least two extra years of postgraduate studies once a dentist has attained the doctoral degree. Although all dentists are allowed to do orthodontic care it is only the fully trained Orthodontist who has prepared fully for treating a wide variety of bite problems or malocclusions.
